June 28 – July 27, 2014

Exhibition Dates: June 28 - July 27, 2014
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 28, 7-10pm
Gallery Hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 1-4pm

Erin Jane Nelson works across many mediums including photography, ceramics, and sculpture, often referencing craft and forms of amateur art making. Paulette Nichols creates plein air paintings of the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland that become performative and expanded in their life on the internet (through her blog, Facebook, and eBay pages). While both artists have very different approaches and histories in regards to art-making, they are both interested in humor, failure, institutional critique, and the aesthetics of amateurism as devices to elevate otherwise formal, lyrical works.
